Think Like Dorothy | Photography Tips

If you know me well, you know about my deep and dorky love for The Wizard of Oz. Why yes, I do have a Christmas tree devoted only to holding my shrine of Wizard of Oz collectible Hallmark ornaments. I can hear you chortling...

In fact, it was just a matter of time before I found a proper theme to connect Oz to my blog, haha ;)  #sorrynotsorry

When photographing the life of your own kids, there is NOTHING better than finding the beauty in your own home and backyard. Don't get too hung up on having the perfect background to gather snapshots of your children at play. There is always a nice patch of light just waiting for you to notice it. A corner of the yard that's nicely shaded even at noon. A nook of your front porch that provides the perfect shade. With the changing of the seasons, don't neglect to capture moments of your kids just BEING. Nobody else has your perfectly unique and beautiful home. Embrace it!

So, think like Dorothy...

"If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard. Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with."
