As a Hampton Roads family photographer, there is nothing that lights be up quite like sharing my love of photography with other Moms and hobbyists! My nerdy little teacher heart just loves it! :)
One of the most common questions from Moms I get is about when to upgrade gear. This question usually comes up when they are in a really awesome learning phase! They've hit a wall or are starting to feel frustrated and limited again. Usually, they tend to think that a bigger camera or fancier lens might be the answer.
But, what I want to share with you today is that 9 times out of 10 - it's not your gear! Check out this recent FB Live video I shared for my workshop students. I hope you find it helpful and empowering!
New gear is not always the answer. Before you spend a fortune on equipment, really figure out the exact problem you're facing. Have you mastered manual mode yet? Do you feel comfortable shooting in various lighting scenarios? Maybe you do and your limited by what you have, and then it might be time to upgrade! Do your research and know what you need FIRST.
I hope this inspires you to pick up your camera today and start practicing :) I have launched a newsletter exclusively for my workshop grads and mentoring pals! I will send out 1-2 monthly emails full of photography tips, education and opportunities to learn more.
I can't wait to see how your photography grows this year!
